This summer’s theme is God’s Creation

Our Kindergarten – 5th grade students, through science, will develop a sense of awe and wonder for the natural world that God created for humans to enjoy and admire. We will discuss the character of God, through stories in the Bible that show His love, goodness, and faithfulness to us.  Students will review math and reading topics that they learned in the previous year, and they will touch on topics that they will learn in the upcoming school year. Writing will be integrated through practice of grammar, spelling, and vocabulary. Students will also learn about social emotional topics, such as gratitude, kindness, empathy, growth mindset, and problem solving. Students will enjoy such things as gym/park time, Spanish/Mandarin, art, field trips and music.
Our 6th – 8th grade students will have devotions before every class will cover God’s Creation, expounding on the questions “Who is God?” and “What is his heart for us?”.  In the mornings, students will attend Math, ELA, and SEL classes. In Math, students will revisit topics from their previous grades and also be challenged by new math concepts to prepare for their upcoming school year. ELA will hone in on skills such as essay writing, reading comprehension, practicing presentations, note taking, and annotations using Science and Social Studies themes. SEL will cover topics related to building good habits, self-awareness, social awareness, and setting goals with a growth mindset. In the afternoons, they will participate in sports such as volleyball, basketball, and badminton. They will also partake in STEM projects, cooking classes, arts, and crafts. One week is dedicated to Reality Town, where we will run a simulation designed to give students a taste of real life budgeting and finances.

Why People Choose Us

What sets Urban Christian Academy’s Summer School apart from other summer programs?

Safe Environment

Our goal is to provide a nurturing safe environment for all students. We strive for all of our students to have a sense of belonging when at UCA.

Special Care

We are highly relational in our approach and interactions with students. We provide a low staff-to-student ratio to facilitate the development and growth of relationships. We see each student as an individual, each with unique needs, concerns, and struggles.

Academics

On weekly basis, we monitor and assess each student's grades to identify and diagnose problem areas to address. We look at the data and trends to formulate plans and strategies to help students develop and form positive habits.
